Description
This sculpture is a plaster cast of an original image which I sculpted a couple of years ago. The first one was done using a photo of Minnie Pearl as a reference and I ultimately called it "Minnie." Minnie has a fabric dress, straw hat and real hair and is included in my Sculpture Gallery on FAA. I made a mold of Minnie, and cast three others in plaster. I gave other features to them changing the hair, clothes, etc. to create other original character sculptures using, among other things, the addition of a paper mache clay to sculpt the hair, (which I create from my original formula). The blouse on "A Happy Face" was actual fabric and lace over which I applied a "hardener" to give it the same look and feel of the plaster. It was then painted with acrylic paints to give the appearance of bronze. Overall it is a very durable piece but could break or chip if dropped or handled roughly.
