Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
Bird specimens, 18th-century artwork. The hooded crow (Corvus cornix, upper left, also 'sea-crow'), is found on the Isle of Man. The toucan-like bird ('Brazilian magpie', upper right) was found dead on the Lancashire coast after a violent hailstorm, which also killed a tropicbird (centre left, family Phaethontidae). At centre right is a copped wren. At lower left is an osprey (Pandion haliaetus). At lower right is a Soland goose (Anser bassanus). Artwork from 'The Natural History of Lancashire, Cheshire, and the Peak in Derbyshire' (1700) by English physician and naturalist Charles Leigh, elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1685.
