I would like to thank everyone for commenting so kindly on my paintings. The inspiration for this still life came when I realised that the beautiful hand-embroidered tablecloth - over 100 years old - would never be used again and therefore lie wrapped up somewhere, unseen. By painting it, I felt that I was prolonging its life.
