I love this unusual look at our capitol -- for some reason it evokes the relatively short history of our nation and how illusory our "mastery" over nature. It makes me feel deep in my bones that all the political arguments which take place here are as snowflakes driven before the wind, and the powerful and rich must seek the warm fires of their dwellings, just like the rest of us. This painting, for all its blizzard, gives me a cozy feeling of oneness with my fellow Americans.
