Description
The first ten years of my life were spent as a foster child. At ten, this wonderful family adopted me and gave me a HOME, complete with a new brother and sister. I can never thank them enough. They are gone now, but these flowers are for them as a thank you for giving me a great life.

Harsh, thank you so much. I could never thank my parents enough for changing my life so drastically for the better. They instilled a good education is a must, and a love for all of the arts. Little did I know I would major in music and later become a painter. :D Thank you again for your lovely comments. :D

William - just return from your site - stunning. You are a true artist. Thank you so much for your lovely comments, especially "For Mom and Dad." They were a gift from God to me, as not many ten year old kids get adopted. I can never thank them enough for all they did for me. Thank you again. :D

Michelle - thank you so much. My parents were a God send to me. We were brought up near Tanglewood, and my parents instilled classical music, art, and theater in us. Your site is gorgeous. My fav pics/paintings (you are an artist in so many fields) were Garden by the Sea and Cape Cod Lavender Farm. We went on a family vacation to Cape Cod when I was very young - and still have wonderful memories of it. Your paintings and photographs are so warm and inviting. Again, thank you. :D

Nina - just came from your site - and am very familiar with the Hudson River School of Painting as I lived in Chatham, NY in the Hudson Valley. Fredrick Church's home "Olana" is a hop, skip and jump from my home. Your art is gorgeous! Thank you so much for appreciating my tribute to Mom and Dad. :D

Chrissy, what a dolt I am. I put someone else's thank you on your comment. Mea culpa. I just looked at your entire site. Nature and animals so gorgeous. I really love "Seal Pup" and "Tiger Lilly." Your paintings and photographs certainly are worth going through the entire site. Oh - and dragon flies are my favorite! Anyway, thank you so much for your lovely comment on "For Mom and Dad." I really appreciate you taking the time to look at it and give me such nice comments. :D When you read the one above, you must have thought I was nuts! lol Thank you again Chrissy.

Chrisann, I could never thank mom and dad enough for giving me a great life. I met my birthmother and she said none of her other 6 children even graduated from high school, until one got a GED as an adult. She said the best thing that ever happend for me was being adopted. She was right. My life would have been so very different. Thank you flr enjoying this. :D As always, Alanna

Baron, one thing I forgot. My first art teacher said when painting flowers, especially soft ones, paint "shadow leaves" behind the 'real" leaves to add depth. You'll also see that on my pansies - my first try at flowers other than my first painting.

Baron, thank you ever so much for your lovely comments. Made my day, week, etc. I truly appreciate you taking your time for your kind comments and critique. :D

I think that this is your strongest piece, delicate and elegant. Great use of pastel tones building up to the brilliant-yet-not-overstated stars of the painting, the flowers. Very nice control here, and yet you seem to be letting the paint do the work as well.

Wanda, I truly appreciate the time you've taken to look at my art. and make such lovely comments! Your site is gorgeous. This painting means a lot to me as I've lost both parents. They truly changed my life by adopting me. I think they would have liked it too. :D Alanna
