Description
Infrred black and wite photograph of the clockface inside Ripon cathedral in Yorkshire.
Ripon's reliance on religious institutions almost proved its undoing when King Henry VIII began dismantling the power and wealth of the church.
The English Reformation saw the destruction of much of the church’s property. In 1569 a Catholic uprising failed and 300 rebels were hung on Gallows Hill close to the cathedral.

I like how the clock stands out in this one.

Beautiful perspective! This image makes me feel like a tiny mouse in a BIG world. It is a very good way to show the power and oppression of the old church.
