Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Dodo and other birds. Historical engraving of various birds, including the extinct dodo (centre left). The dodo was a large flightless bird related to the pigeon. It inhabited the islands of Mauritius and Rodriguez in the Indian Ocean. It evolved without any natural predators, and was quickly made extinct when humans arrived on these islands. The last dodos died on Mauritius in the middle of the 17th Century, and around a century later on Rodriguez. Also seen here are the cockatoo (lower left), cassowary (centre right), and the flying squirrel (a mammal, top centre). Engraving taken from a book by the Dutch explorer and naturalist John Nieuhoff, published in 1665.
