Description
Twilight sequence. Montage of 360-degree panoramas of the night sky during twilight at the autumn equinox in the northern hemisphere, darkening from top to bottom, with the Milky Way (left), contrail clouds, (centre) airglow (green), and light pollution (yellow), all visible. The images were obtained 10 minutes apart, starting from the beginning of astronomical twilight, and ending 10 minutes before the end of astronomical twilight. Airglow is the faint green light naturally emitted by nitrogen molecules in the Earth's atmosphere. The same silhouetted beech tree (left and right) frames the panoramas. Photographed from Brittany, France.
