Bulls v. Lakers 1986,
Exhibition game at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill

Magic looked on as Michael went straight down the middle to score.

Michael had graduated from UNC before I started there in 1984, but the Bulls and the Lakers played an exhibition game in the Smith Center in 1986. Fortunately, as the photo editor for the Yack, I had a photo pass. Seeing Michael play was fantastic. Although I shot many UNC games during my time in Chapel Hill, Michael was clearly on another level, even in just an exhibition game. I recall that for the most part, he had been taking outside shots when one of the photographers said, "Hey Michael, give us something to shoot." The next time down the court, he made a spectacular move as requested, going straight to the basket.
