Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

After the Rainbow Trout piece I did for Manitoba Fisheries there was a lot of buzz about that piece and the style in which it was composed. I decided the best thing to do was to do another one in similar fashion. I decided to do a chrome steelhead this time around and add a new dimension to my work with parts of the piece extending beyond your typical "rectangle" artwork boundaries.
Hailing from the prairie region of central Canada, Nick Laferriere was raised in the country surrounded by nature. His passion for art started at a very young age with countless hours spent scribbling pictures and getting lost in his works. Nick has always been passionate about fishing but it wasn't until he took up fly fishing that he discovered his niche in drawing and painting fish. He started out by drawing fish in scientific illustrative form. Later, his artwork evolved into dynamic, swimming and action poses with great attention to detail. "One of the first fish I ever drew was a rock bass. It was a heck of a challenge and I didn't enjoy it. It wasn't until a few years later when I got into fly fishing that I took another stab...
