Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

This is a wet-into-wet watercolor painting of Wizzlewump, an angry wizard in a story I wrote. I often start paintings loosely and then tighten up the details at the end--this painting I left most of it loose, only adding details in the eyes, nose, and mouth. (Thank you to Frank Frogge for modeling this great expression for me. to paint.)
As a child Frank Dixon loved to read fairy tales. At age 7 he started writing his own stories and drawing pictures to go with them. His whole life he has loved creating magical fantasy paintings. Dixon studied art and illustration at Art Center College of Design and received his MFA in fine arts from California State University at Los Angeles. His background ranges from portrait artist on the Queen Mary, to award winning graphic designer/ illustrator for NASA, to a popular art instructor in Southern California. Artists that have influenced his work include Arthur Rackham, Maxfield Parrish, N. C. Wyeth, and Brian...
