Doug Duffey- is a 'modern artist'. He is well known as a serious, multi trans genre, visual artist. 'Analog' mediums include collage [as in paper & glue] , drawing, painting, photography, mixed media; 'Digital' mediums: digital drawings, digital collage [photo montage/combine] digital scans [photographs] photo and video.
He has drawn and painted since childhood; began making collage in the 1960s; taught himself photography: from camera basics to darkroom techniques, and printing. Preferring vintage film and Polaroid cameras to digital, he often utilizes both in his photo work.
His artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Louisiana and Europe, in one man and/or group shows.
A native of Louisiana; a long time resident of New Orleans/Monroe; he has resided and worked between Louisiana and Europe for the past 25 years. He is a member of the Louisiana Hall of Fame.

Doug Duffey's notes:
DIGITAL DRAWINGS:
In my drawings, I am heavily influenced by my Louisiana [and 'deep south'] culture, heritage, traditions, every day life and scenery; especially New Orleans, the French Quarter, Mardi Gras, Bourbon Street, Halloween, the Day of the Dead, festivals, religious and voodoo imagery, folk and religious art, hand painted signs, and southern funkiness in general. Recurring themes are said celebrations, as well as ancient aliens, star and sky people, mythology, ancient cultures, religious imagery, erotica, etc.
I have always been heavily influenced by the German Expressionists and DADA-ists; by the drawings of Schiele, Picasso, Klee, Cocteau, Grosz, Hubbuch, Hogarth, Durer, Dix, etc. Having traveled half the globe as a performer, and having lived between USA and Europe for the past 25 years, I am also influenced by European street scenes, bar, cabaret, hotel and cafe scenes, their carnival (Fassnacht) as well as (how I see) the landscapes, people, and different cultures.
Most of my digital drawings are done with a normal mouse, on a normal mouse pad, in Photoshop. Some are drawn on my cell phone or my G-tablet, iPad, using my finger and/or a stylus, then uploaded to my laptop and edited in Photoshop or Gimp.
DIGITAL COLLAGE - PHOTO MONTAGE- COMBINE:
All digital collages are done with my mouse and computer, using images from mostly 'public domain' or 'creative commons' sources. Many are made from/or mixed with, my own digital photographs, which i digitally cut and paste with my mouse, manipulate and edit in Photoshop.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
This gets a bit tricky because I do many different genres of photography. I use lots of vintage cameras, very good or total junk cameras, scanners, phones and web cameras to make photos. I use everything from 'key chain' digital cameras to better digital cameras, but prefer film. I scan film negatives, slides, and Polaroid as well as use some digital files- and work with the images in Photoshop.
ANALOG:
I have been drawing as long as i can remember; primarily using pencil/charcoal, India ink w/ brush or pen. i prefer black and white. My latest works have been using a Sharpie marker on vellum or paper. I seldom 'do' color, although i prefer oil sticks to paints; I have recently been doing acrylic on wood, and watercolor on handmade paper.

I will be creating a NEW gallery of original [one of a kind] works on paper and on wood, soon. These will be the original works of my drawings, collage, hand printed photographs, original. THE ORIGINAL WORKS WILL BE FOR SALE- HOWEVER, I RETAIN THE RIGHT TO SELL PRINTS OF ALL MY WORKS.
