Paul Dieterís love of photography began in his single-digit years. Paulís father, an electrical engineer, understood the science and art of
photography, and set up a basement darkroom where he and Paul could process film and make their own prints. After service in the Peace Corps, Paul went on to get a degree in commercial photography and transformed his hobby into a career, working as a corporate location photographer for many years. As the photography business went digital, he decided to move on, but he never put down the camera.

As a commercial photographer, Paul greatly enjoyed collaborating with his clients crafting corporate messages with film. Now that he is free to pursue photography as art, he is developing a style based on his own vision of imagery and technical possibilities. Blending classic photography skills with technical post-processing and digital painting, he is rediscovering the joys of that young man in the home-built darkroom, creating pieces that meld the vibrant colors of the Impressionist painters with the technique of the great Art photographers of our time.

Artist note:
These images were developed specifically for printing on textured watercolor paper, but they also work well on canvas. The artist recommends printing on one of those two media.
