I cannot remember a time when I didn't draw. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting under a table lamp, drawing horses, even before I was old enough to go to school. I grew up with a pencil in my hand, my favorite medium, a part of me, an extension of myself with which I could create my world, my way. I began my artistic journey creating works in graphite, but found colored pencils in 1989. I still love working in graphite but I really love working in colored pencils. Today I am a Signature Member of the Colored Pencil Society of America, Associate Member - Women Artists of the West and have expanded my fine art mediums to include oils and photography to complement my pencil work.
I have always been drawn to living things, the way a subject may move or perhaps a simple tilt of a head or the twinkle of an eye. I love how subtle changes can make such an emotional difference. No matter the subject, be it human, animal, landscapes or simply treasures of ones past, my art is about capturing the spirit of a portrait, the sparkle of a moment captured in time or the sweet soft sounds of ones memories.
