B29 Series
Korea
The B29 bomber force was re-activated for heavy bomber missions in Korea from 1950 onwards. Initial missions were very successful with major damage inflicted on North Korean industry. The advent of Russian supplied Mig 15 fighter aircraft caused daylight sorties to be abandoned after the loss of 28 B29s. Future B29 ops were restricted to night missions often supported by Corsair night fighters from VMF-513(N) based in Pusan.
In this image part of the B29 force is seen in the last of the daylight en-route to the north in Korea with a section of ‘black’ Corsairs in attendance.
Have been interested in photography since just after WW2, when film became freely available again, using Kodak Autographic equipment. Graduated, in the 50's, to 35mm and was involved in photographic work during my 17 yrs as RAF aircrew - navigator. Since retirement and migrating to Canon digital equipment have been involved with two of my sons and one grandson in a considerable amount of photographic activity, particularly composite images. Now producing digital art prints with the major emphasis on classic warbird aviation. With son, Duncan, now becoming a well-known and published wild life photographer we have started, in 2017, a new gallery reflecting Scottish sea birds - and 'feathered' flight

. . . Congratulations on your Sale of your artwork! ... If we were not living 24/7 in an 23 ft RV, without space to hang our own work, would get one myself.... So it is very easy to see what the buyer likes about your work ! ! This brings back a lot of memories, . Stationed on stationed on Okinawa in July early in the morning and watch the B-29s taking off from Kadena, until I left for Korea in August.
Pat Speirs replied:
Thank you, your generous commnets much appreciated. Sounds cozy!
