I created this painting on location at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park for the 2009 Estes Park Plein Air National Art Show.
I really enjoyed trying to capture the reflections of the trees in the mirror like lake. It was a real challenge as from time to time the wind would pick up. The lake was calm at sunrise, so I did most of the painting very early in the morning. It took two sessions. It was worth it effort.
