Wyoming, fireweed, and aspens in autumn, Targhee Nat. Forest. Howard created this image using 4x5 sheet film with a Wisner Classic camera.
It's called Fireweed largely because of the bright red color it has in autumn. It was a treat to find such a color show on the forest floor beneath the glow of yellow aspen leaves. The complimentary evening light was all that was needed. A scenic landscape photographer spends a lot of time waiting for the right light or the so-called decisive moment. Sometimes I use these times for exploration looking for other possibilities but it can also be a good time for a needed rest. Landscape photography is a very physically demanding business.
