Artist's Description
For “Into the Fire” I wanted to depict a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom and crew battling anti-aircraft fire while returning from a strike against a target in north Vietnam. I tried to imagine what it might have been like to have flown through anti-aircraft artillery trying to egress from a target with the plane in afterburner at low level.
