Description
Lacewing larva head (Chrysoperla carnea), coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). This insect preys on aphids, whitefly and other insects, using its hollow mouthparts to suck out their bodily fluids. One larva can feed on over 300 aphids a day. Lacewing larva are used as biological control agents against garden and crop pests. Magnification: x120 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
