Description
Most of us know that pink is the color for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. It was not my original intent that this painting was for breast cancer awareness, but a friend of mine wanted a copy for someone fighting breast cancer. Then, it hit me that this IS a great painting for that!
This piece began being set into motion as I made a new friend at a Red Hat Society convention in Denver. She graciously allowed me to paint my photo of her. The actual painting has great texture in the roses on the hat and the fabulous pink boa she was wearing. I also captured the feeling of the heavily beaded evening gown she was wearing by lightly scraping my palette knife with layers and layers of different shades of lavender. Though I started and finished this piece at home in my studio, I also worked on it during Club Tuesdays with Lillian Kennedy. This piece has been particularly well-received during a few small shows and was also juried into a national show. Special thanks to Stephanie, my Pink Hatter friend!
