This seascape reflects the tranquility of a sailing trip on Monterey Bay on a quiet afternoon. I took the original photo circa 2005. A sailboat is in the far distance. A bird flies near the center edge. Everything else is sky and sea. I took this photo either right before or right after "Sailing Solo." For this one I used what was probably a 5MP digital camera. For the companion piece I used digital binoculars. I love the similarities and differences between the two photos, the colors that each camera captured, and the feeling of isolation that both captured. * Watermark is for online display only and will not appear on the actual print.
I am a self-taught artist. I work with various mediums including acrylic, watercolors, pastels, graphic arts, film, digital photography, and digital imaging. Much of my work involves mixed mediums. I am also a portrait artist and illustrator, heavily influenced and inspired by the communities in which I have lived. I also enjoy illustrating sports scenes, painting portraits, and drawing cartoons.
