Description
Blarney Castle
A major tourist attraction located in Blarney, just outside of Cork, Ireland, the main attraction is the Blarney Stone, also known as the Stone of Eloquence. Kissing the stone supposedly endows that person with the gift of gab, or skill at flattery. Millions have done it, the famous and the not-so-famous.
In order to reach the Blarney Stone, which is located at the top of the castle ruin one must climb a steep, rotating stairway which will limit those with physical restrictions. Upon reaching the top then you lay on your back and, with assistance from an employee, stretch out to kiss the stone. Of course, you are rewarded with the opportunity to buy a photo of yourself upon returning to the bottom for a fee.
Aside from the kissing stone there are beautiful gardens which dot the surrounding grounds which are meticulously maintained.
A huge restaurant and souvenir-department store also provide for a break in your sightseeing.
