Description
I have always been fascinated by hot air balloons. Occasionally, the big beautiful things fly over the neighborhood where I live in Longmont, Colorado. On a fine spring morning in 2002--one landed on a little street very close to my house! That was exciting! ...As I was recovering from a big cancer surgery done in June of 2007, my daughter heard me say that a ride in a hot air balloon was on my bucket list. She garnered support from friends and co-workers to make that dream come true! I I worked this piece up from several different photos I took and used as reference. I painted it mostly in my studio, but I did also work on it during my Club Tuesday art group in Lillian Kennedy's studio. I used both brushes and palette knives to capture the memories I had from this unforgettable experience. Thank you, Jenny and ALL! It certainly was a dream come true.
