This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?
Artist's Description
A is For Atlas Moth by Joan Stratton - Hand drawn digital artwork of an Atlas Moth. These detailed drawings take me many long days of drawing to complete :)
Of the family Saturniidae, the Atlas Moth it is the second largest species in Australia! Hercules Moth is the largest. The Atlas moth is one of the largest lepidopterans with a wingspan measuring between 25–30 cm (9.8–11.8 in) and a wing surface area of about 400 cm2 (62 in2). It is rusty-brown in colour, with a double white band and a large white spot on each wing. Breeding colonies are very local in distribution. Adults are nocturnal and seasonally abundant, having been recorded during the wet season from January to March. Their life cycle takes approximately 3 months, however pupae may remain dormant for a year. Its range is restricted to coastal monsoon forest, where the preferred larval food plants and breeding habitat occurs (climatewatch.org.au).

About Joan Stratton
Welcome to Paintings By Joan - Art & Design By Joan P Stratton. I live in the tropical far north, Cape York, Queensland, Australia. My beautiful home and country is the inspiration for my art. I began my working career in Melbourne, as a trainee in graphic art, technical drawings and drafting for a mining and engineering company. With the diversity of work available to me, I gained vast experience with all manner of mediums prior to the advent of computers. In the mid '80s, as a side-line to my permanent employment, I designed and prepared artwork for record covers (Albums, Eps), promotional ads and flyers for rock bands that marketed their music independently. I see myself as a mixed media artist, I love every medium and they all...
