This painting was commissioned by two bicyclists who wanted a painting showing the vibrant spring flowers found in the Rocky Mountain meadows. Two birds, a magpie and a towhee, perch in the foreground, and the signature Boulder flatirons are a dramtic backdrop to this Colorado scene. I was pleased that the cyclists resemble the people who now own the painting.

Anne Gifford is an award winning artist and the eight time poster artist for Colorado's Bolder Boulder 10K Memorial Day Race, one of the largest road races in the United States. She began her career as a silkscreen artist, and now works with watercolor, building successive layers of color to create her vibrant, rich, and detailed paintings.
