It is the year, 7930 a.t.* (11,043 c.e**), and for nearly ten thousand years, transapient and archailect minds have ruled terragen space, beginning with SolSys and expanding out until now their reach extends for thousands of light years on each end. This is the universe of Orion's Arm, where all are free to seek their destiny, where advanced nanotechnology enables utopias and freedom from harm unimagined by even the messianic religious dreamers of Old Earth, where knowledge and material abundance exist almost without limit. In this era, Earth is now inhabited by the "Punes", a race of beings, who came to Earth 2,000 years hence, in the year 5930 a.t., or 9043 in the 'common era', to find it bereft of its human inhabitants, who having made their planet unliveable, abandoned it, and went in search of other worlds to colonize. The Punes are an Archailect race, who possesses an ascended, post-singularity intelligence that has grown vastly beyond even the Transapient level. Within the context of this hypothetical universe, they represent the highest level to which living beings are currently known to have evolved. This scene shows the University of Pune, and three of its dormitories, alongside a canal that meanders through the vast campus. The University is dedicated to the teaching of mathematics, physics (theoretical and applied), astrophysics, hyperturing technology, molecular biology, exo-archeology, exo-biology, astronomy, poetry, and music. Who would have thought that the first Utopia on Planet Earth would be created by beings from another planet!!
