Artist's Description
Old abandonded homestead in San Luis Valley in southern Colorado in Fall 2011. The Sangre de Gristo mountains "Blanca" at the background. One of my favorite areas to visit in Colorado. A part of San Luis Valley looks like African savanna and it's the home of Great Sand Dunes National Park also.

Such a lovely image of days gone by. Makes one wonder about the hardships the people had to endure to be there when winter sets in and the snow on the mountains makes it way down to the valley floor. Burr. Great capture. I voted for you in the Colorado contest. So few people get to experience these back roads moments, it is always a pleasure to view someones work that shows this past life. I love the "plastic" laundry basket. So much for the "really old". he he Roena
Merja Waters replied:
Thank you for your kind words, Roena. I could have cropped the laundry basket off, but I thought it was part of the scenery... reality of life :-)
