Description
Extremely large and conspicuous. White with black wingtips. Very long, orange bill with pouch for scooping up fish. Forages in flocks, swimming together to concentrate fish. Often soars in flocks, infrequently flapping, during migration and when traveling between feeding sites.

gorgeous, Jim! I don't think I was aware that pelicans could be pure white like this - wow! I always see photos of the brown pelicans. Thanks to Laurel for sharing this in the PhotoArtistry thread in the BUZzz, adding to my faves.

Thank you Conni! I captured images of the American White Pelican in two locations so far. These were at the Mojave Narrows Regional Park near Victorville, CA. the others at Santee Lakes, in Santee east of San Diego.
