The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

Yesterday on the 4th of July I had the honor and privilege to sail out into Boston Harbor on USS Constitution for the annual turnaround event. Thanks go out to long time family friend Shane Kennedy for making this possible.
It was a very hot yet amazing day. Some of the days events were a 21 cannon salute, a 17 cannon salute, the reading of The Declaration of Independence, 2 sailors re-enlisting, 4 surprise sailor promotions, music and a great tribute to American history. This was a bucket list item that one wouldn't even think to put on a bucket list. Around noon with the sun almost overhead a slight breeze caught part of the amazing flag flown on the stern. I noticed the sun shining thru it and positioned myself directly below to capture a sunburst in the top curve of the flag.
The first photograph I remember taking was on a 4th grade field trip to Augusta Maine. Long ago were the days of putting the 126 or 110 size cartridge of film in a bag, mailing it off to some magical place then waiting 2 weeks to get your prints back. Now- shoot it, dump it or keep it. Between then and now my photography has taken many twisted turns. High school brought the camera club. What an easy way to get out of study hall and classes and roam the halls taking pictures to end up in the yearbook. I was accepted at but did not attend Rhode Island School of Photography, foolishness at an early age. Started capturing weddings and portraits which got progressively larger for about 10 years.
