Amazing

Absolutely beautiful!

This particular scene is from a place very near my father’s house and the memorial bench for his late wife. He himself has taken many similar photographs of this beautiful spot. I love this piece. Having it printed on the wood gave this piece depth and character, like a painting. A little clarity was obscured by the wood grain but it’s beautiful.

I have always loved mermaids and artist Skoosh’s friendship series was one I immediately fell in love with. Treated myself to one on wood and I absolutely love it. The wood is substantial and works wonderfully with the colors on the print. Eventually it will go up on the wall of my craft room/office but for now it’s right next to my laptop where i can see it as I get through my day. Can’t wait for the rest of the series to be available.

Artist's Description

This is the first in a series of American Indians taken several years back at an American Indian Pow Wow festival in northern New Jersey. Unfortunately, I did not document any information as to what Nation any of these are from. Native Americans in the United States are the indigenous peoples in North America within the boundaries of the present-day continental United States, parts of Alaska, and the island state of Hawaii. They are composed of numerous, distinct Native American tribes and ethnic groups, many of which survive as intact political communities. The terms used to refer to Native Americans have been controversial. According to a 1995 U.S. Census Bureau set of home interviews, most of the respondents with an expressed preference refer to themselves as American Indians or Indians, and this term has been adopted by major newspapers and some academic groups; however, this term does not include Native Hawaiians or those Alaskan Natives, such as Aleuts, Alutiiq, Cup'ik, Yup'ik,...

About Guy Harnett

It was in 1980, while taking a class in High School, I fell in love with photography. Back then it was a simple 35mm Minolta SRT SCII Single Lens Reflex camera. It started out as an expensive hobby. For those who have not experienced the art of film, it certainly was a painstaking art form. What used to take hours and even days to manipulate an image in the darkroom, takes merely minutes with the advent of digital imaging. Add to this the fact that you would not be able to even see an image prior to processing and developing. Each image taken was carefully executed to minimize the amount of film used and time spent for processing, not to mention the costs of chemicals etc... What started as a hobby, eventually turned into a second...
