There are many photographs of Butchart Gardens but it is quite difficult to find paintings so I was thrilled to find this beautiful painting! It's even more beautiful in person!

Love the print! Go to Avalon every year and always get a picture in front of these boats. Nice to have it hung in the living room now!

About Van Cordle

VAN B. CORDLE I consider myself to be a natural surrealist and although my paintings may at first bring to mind such terns as "photo-realism" or "super-realism", but they are in fact, quite painterly. Although they have been tightly rendered to give the illusion of reality, they are unlike the photo-replicative paintings of most photo-realists. When and if I take photographs, I use them as sketches to be used and surpassed, not as goals to be reached. I am inspired by the simplicity and nostalgia of old neon signs. I knew a few other artists had done some similar works, like John Badder did an occasional sign included in his Café series, but thought I was the first to do a serious series of oil paintings on Neon signs back...

Hi Van, I hadn't seen this one! Excellent work. I can't even begin to understand how you can render these subjects so realistically. What a gift you have. I like this one too because of the anchor (I guess it reminds me of my Navy days :)) Thank you for noticing my work.

Amazing drawing photo quality perfection.

Van, you must be a very patient person. Looking at the detail of those bricks would make me give up even before I start. That is, in case I would do something like that.. which is not the case...LOL. I am not a genious like you! I better go to sleep. Great drawing.

Van, you have captured me with your phenomenal renders! I love what you wrote about surpassing the image of the subject at hand. As your new fan, I will be watching your work as long as possible, and congratulations on your great ability!!!
