A rare site on the 400+ acre private reserve for endangered species. These animals know how and where to hide. During the Tubbs (2017) and Kincade (2019) firestorms; the Ankole-Watusi cattle's survival mode served them well. In this photo, bull, calf, cow; the Ankole-Watusi make their way to the large reservoir to quench a thirst brought on by 3 digit temperature. The name of the cattle is derived from the Ankole group of Sanga cattle breeds of central Africa characterized by very large horns. The Ankole-Watusi were imported to Germany as zoo specimens in the early twentieth century. I was born Richard Thomas 70 years ago in Southern California. Art has always been my passion, especially painting with acrylics, oils or water color. As well as drawing. Studied architectural drafting and design at San Bernardino Valley Junior College between 1968 and 1970. In the Fall of 1970, I chose a different vocation. By June of 2004, Richard Thomas retired from the retail meat cutting trade. After all my chores were done at home I started another career working in a local camera shop in 2006 to supplement my retirement income, where I was exposed to another art form - painting WITH light.
