I intend to show the profound and often difficult to pin down and multi-dimensional aspects of the wonders of the southwest, including sunsets, mountain backgrounds and windmills. The hope is that the eye continues to wander through the work for a long time; never tiring of the process and the unfolding imagery. The faint windmill, as in all of these image series, was created by me (the tower and the rebuilt aermotor) and all of the other imagery is solely mine (nothing borrowed). This completes the notion that my sensibilities, frail as they might be, are being demonstrated throughout.

Thor Sigstedt was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1952 and was soon to realize that his family was slightly nomadic, unique and loaded down with artists and musicians. His family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico first around 1950 and then his mother, Mansi Kern, divorced his father, Val Sigstedt (Sigstedt Studios, Artlight) and remarried to Ken Kern (author Owner-Built Home, etc) moving to California near Oakhurst, where they experimented living in intentional poverty and off the grid, giving Thor his early experiences with cave for refrigerator and hauling water at night as a five year old using a one-gallon glass juice jug, composting and living on the land with an old Indian "poacher" named Tom as a babysitter.
