When out for walks in the great outdoors, it's well worth stopping and having a look around now and then. Just think, if I had never taken the time to look up at this beautiful view that I saw in Ashridge woods. Ashridge woods is part of the Ashridge Estate, Berkhamsted, England, owned and maintained by The National Trust. The entire estate covers an area of 2000 hectares or 5000 acres. A large part of the estate is covered by beautiful woodland and comprises a network of footpaths. Some of these (nature trails) are marked by numbered posts, which are great fun for children to find and follow. This is a little spot, on one of the nature trails, that my family have been going to for years. There is a large area of Chestnut trees and usually by the third week of October, the best chestnuts are falling. It's great fun to collect chestnuts as long as you don't get one fall on your head! This image has been digitally treated to enable larger sized prints. These larger sizes will have an oil painting effect which looks great.
