My husband and I took a hike around Golden Ponds in Longmont, Colorado in autumn. It was unusually still, and the pond almost looked like glass. My husband loves red maple trees, so I took a little artistic license and put a young maple in there for a focal point. There are layers and layers of paint that I laid down with my palette knife. I finished the water with a glaze done with a brush to simulate the water effect, and then I added the ripples in the water with a small brush. I also took the time to paint the edges of the canvas. Besides working on it at home in my studio, I also worked on it in Lillian Kennedy's Club Tuesday.
