Blues and oranges glow against one another as sunlight dances upon a gentle stream.
The earth is always colorful, even in the desert, but autumn is the season in which nature unfolds her glorious palette of joy. Autumnal Reflections, the artwork, invites the viewer to step by the banks of a country stream, where the vibrant blue of the water contrasts against the flaming oranges, reds, rusts, corals, golds, and even pinks of the fall foliage.
Golden rays dancing from sunlight reflect upon the water, turning its blues into a gold far finer and more precious than that used to make jewelry. Even the tufts of grass put on an aura of color and light, and the entire landscape is one of living, vibrant color.
Autumn is a celebration. For those who have not forgotten that our food grows in the ground and on trees, and ripens at certain times, autumn is a celebration of harvest, a time of plenty in which we can gather for the bleak winter months ahead. Part of this celebration is nature’s festival of color, a time in which she says, “This is the culmination of the season of growth, and we are having an immense party, all across the landscape, to express joy at the beauty and bounty of the earth.”
Autumn is also a time of deep thought and reflection, a time to wander through the landscape of beauty and think on the spring and summer that have come before. This reflection applies not only to the landscape, but to life itself because all of us, if we live long enough, will experience spring, summer, autumn, and winter in our lives, and as we grow older and (hopefully) wiser, we recognize that all seasons have their time, purpose, challenges, and beauty.
Autumn Reflections invites us to step into one of those seasons and fully experience its beauty.
