Digital Art - Digital Art - Photography Based Digital Hand-painting
Very happy to announce that "Autumn's Glow" won 3rd place in the Fine Art America contest "New Listing" 10/22/19. Many thanks to the contest administrator Chicago Skyline Art and to everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to the other winners!
It's a rare day in autumn ... maybe one in five years produces a day like today ... and we're out here enjoying as much of it as we can. Wherever here is. Somewhere in Montgomery County, Maryland ... or is it Howard?
We keep telling ourselves we're not lost. After all, we have that gps thing on the phone. Worst case, we can always plug it in and get back to the main road. But on a day like today, when magically all the elements of the seasons produced enough rain but not too much, proper temperatures, not too much wind, not too many clouds, bright sun ... when everything comes together and you find yourself in this colorful paradise, who really cares where we are?
"Autumn's Glow" was loosely sketched from a photo I took many years ago (back when I was still figuring out aperture and shutter speeds ... and oh by the way, I probably didn't have a gps system either!). Pretty badly exposed photo, but I loved it anyway and held onto it all these years. I decided it's compositional bones might make for a good painting, so grabbed my digital paint box in Corel Painter 2019, my Wacom tablet and art pen and my favorite Bob Ross brushes and off I went. Ok, I'm ready for fall ... bring on the colors!!!
Image sketched and painted by hand, digitally, and very loosely based on one of my own photos using Corel Painter 2019, a Wacom tablet, the art pen stylus and a wide variety of beautiful digital brushes.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
