Description
BiblePainting 102 - This painting was created with a simple purpose – portray a visually simple concept that can help new Christians identify with Christ and still inspire maturing Christians at the church. The event shown in the painting is the moment that Jesus emerged from being completely submerged in the Jordan river after John the Baptist immersed him for baptism. Matthew 3:16-17 states “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Many artists depict and actual dove (or doves) flying over Jesus, but I chose to include just a brilliant light from above. It’s worth noting that the painting now hangs in a church next to a glass door. When the sun shines brightly, the white light of the painting is emphasized even more.
