My fiance owns this picture, he had it as a little boy and cherishes it. He always wondered if it was a real place?

Duane R Probus replied:

Heidi...Glad your friend likes the picture.......It is not from an actual setting.........All my paintings are out of my head.......However, I was raised in rural Kentucky.......There are thousands of similar settings throughout the state......Have a great day

In 2003 I bought a painting just like this ...at a yard sale ..in leadwood mo...she said its been hanging in her house for fourty years

Absolutely beautiful piece, Duane! Your work is amazing.

Dear Mr.probus, I have a large painting of Best Friends. I love the painting it is beautiful ! Reminds me of much better days ! Well I was told that in that painting you have hidden fairies? If this is true can you tell me where they are? I haved looked and looked .I see the strokes of different colors are those the fairies ? Wonderful work you do. Thanks susan

Ian......Thanx for the compliment......I painted this picture years ago for a reproduction company in New York....Hopefully, this answers your question about one of a kind .....Have a great day

Was wondering who did this giant painting... Have had it for years... Sad to see that its just been painted over and over again... Thought it was a one off... Always enjoyed it... Hangs over the bed...Adds comfort to the room... Nice to know its a locals hand at work...

Latisha......I painted this piece for a reproduction company in New York in the 60' s........The company has since gone out of business.... I am now working with a company in Florida.....In order to avoid possible difficulties, we changed the name......Hope you have enjoyed the picture...Take care......Duane

I have this painting also, but it is entitled "A good catch"...Can someone give me some information about this painting?

Jennifer.....Thanks for the complement and great story......Hope your son also enjoys it

Dear Mr. Probus, I'm amazed at how many stories there are of this painting. My grandfather was a door-to-door salesman in Baton Rouge, LA, and I believe this painting was one of the products he offered. It hung in my grandparents' living room all of my growing up years. On visits there, I would go to sleep on the sleeper sofa staring up at this picture and dreaming I was in it. My grandparents both passed away, and when their things were divided, I asked for this painting. Now my 13-year old son has it in his room. He likes it for the same reasons I do. He was curious and looked your name up online. I'm so glad he did! I just wanted to share with you that your painting is in lots of my happy memories. Isn't that something? I wonder if you ever dreamed of the effect just one painting would have? Pretty cool.

Bart Sherill Thanks....Hope it sells for lots of money

I acquired this painting at an auction about 6 years ago it is a 2' x 4' painting it looks great hope to sell it at the flea market this weekend the wife and I love it. I'll let you know if it it sells.

Harper..............Thanks for the compliment.........Hope you continue enjoying the picture.............

Hi, I recently found this painting on the side of the road in Houston, near my apartment. I stopped and picked it up. Now i have it hanging in my living room, I really like it, I had never heard of you before, but its a great painting.

Thanks guys for the great compliments......Hope things are well with you and yours......Take care ...........Duane

Thanks Randy for the great compliment.....Glad you have enjoyed it.....Take care.....Duane

I found this framed painting about 15 years ago (Best Friends) and I have always loved it. It was bound for the trash because it had been left behind by someone and I saved it. Everyone who has ever seen it has loved ti. My mother in law suggested I look your name up and to my surprise here you are. I have always looked at the painting and dreamed that I was there fishing or just in the serenity of the moment with my friend. Wander up one of the trails and explore new places.Thank you for work.

Thanks Penny....Glad you have enjoyed it..........Good luck with your projects

Duane, we have a large print of this painting hanging in our home, having been passed on from my mother-in-law's home. I was just standing and admiring it and decided to google your name, as I had never researched it at all in the past. I was astonished to find you right here on FAA. Your work is beautiful, and I'm proud to own and display a sample of it! F/V

Laura... Thanks for the very nice compliment.........My paintings are usually not of particular locations........As you know, these type scenes are all over Kentucky....It's just a matter of dreaming up a composition and painting it..............Take care.......Duane

where is this scene painted. Is it in Kentucky?

i have BestFriends on canvas framed and matted. bought at a yard sale about ten years ago just now found out about your work. this picture takes me to my happy place.

Mr.Probus, i love this painting we have one in our office. I am thinking that its a reproduction. although it looks original. we actually have several of your paintings. Keep up the good work.

Duane, this is one of the most spectacular oil paintings I have ever seen on FAA or anywhere else! It is just astonishing! The perspective and DOF are fantastically done, and the piece, as a whole, is magnificently done and presented. Congrats on you very well deserved sale and you get a really big F/V on this wonderful masterpiece of art work!

I never received my order, or even a shipping notification. I will have to dispute the charge soon, although I'd still rather have the item. :)

I would love to provide a picture of this product, unfortunately I can't because it never shipped to me and no one at Pixels has been interested in discussing this situation with me despite multiple emails asking for an update.

Worst experience ever. Ordered on 16/08/2017 and estimated ship date was 21/08/2017, it's 06/09/2017 now and there is still no info when item will be shipped. Tried to contact pixels.com twice via contact form, no answer. Charger supposed to be gift for my father's birthday on 09/09/2017 but you managed to ruin it. Since I tried to contact You via contact form, and got no result. I hope that you'll read this comment and return me my money, since you failed to deliver product which is now useless to me because you weren't able to provide any info for couple of weeks

I bought this for my sister who is graduating soon. She spends a lot of time on her cell phone, and I thought this would be a personal and usefu giftl. The image is a bit dark but over all nice quality. The charger came with some charge (blue light came on). It looks easy to use, and I'm eager to see how my sister likes it!

Artist's Description

A boy in the country's constant companion is his dog. Duane as a boy would spend numerous hours with his dog at the ole' fishing hole. He depicted this hidden spot in this painting. His attention to detail in this painting is astounding. This painting is truly a window to a more peaceful place and time. Copyright Duane R. Probus 2009

About Duane R Probus

Duane was raised in rural Kentucky on a non-motorized farm. His favorite recreation activity was riding his horse along with his dog throughout the adjacent hills and hollows. He has always had a keen obsession for studying nature. This provided Duane with material, knowledge and a romantic feel for scenes not normally experienced in today's modern world. While in high school Duane got involved in the only art classes available to the area at the time. Correspondence courses through the Minneapolis Art Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Duane had an opportunity to study a year under Clause Hausseman in Frankfort, Germany, in that he was stationed at nearby Rhein Mein Air Force Base. After the Air Force, Duane attended the...
