Description
Big Dipper and Ursa Minor constellation. Optical image of the stars of the Big Dipper and the constellation of Ursa Minor, seen in the night sky of the Northern Hemisphere. At lower centre is the 'Big Dipper' asterism that forms part of the Ursa Major constellation. The 'Big Dipper' is formed of the stars Alkaid, Mizar, Alioth, Megrez, Phecda, Merak and Dubhe. The stars of Ursa Minor are at upper left. Merak and Dubhe form a line pointing upwards to the northern pole star (Polaris) at top centre, which forms the end of the tail of Ursa Minor.
