I love the artist and usually purchase her originals or prints and have been extremely satisfied with them, but this original and some others were sold so I purchased cards to frame. I have to comment that this card was a little dark and if it could be lightened a little, it would better represent the artwork. The artist is one of my favorites.

Flax, also known as common flax or linseed, is a member of the genus Linum in the family Linaceae. It is a food and fiber crop cultivated in cooler regions of the world. The textiles made from flax are known in the Western countries as linen, and traditionally used for bed sheets, underclothes, and table linen.
Yellow jacket is the common name in North America for predatory wasps of the genera Vespula and Dolichovespula. Members of these genera are known simply as "wasps" in other English-speaking countries.

Stupendous macro, Iris. This insect is not a Yellow Jacket (Hymenoptera) but a Syrphid fly (Diptera), just for your information. Again a fabulous shot. F/L.

Terrific macro, Iris! I love the clarity and sharpness of the bee contrasted by the softness of the blue flower. Liked very much!
Iris Richardson
Thank you I love my little pollinators. Since my son started beekeeping I learn so much about the different insect which look like honey bees but are not. I always assumed wasps are very hostile, but because they use their stinger to kill prey they do not want to use them up. You just have to make sure you don't get to close to a nest. They are very protective of those. In some countries certain kind of wasps are protected. You are not allowed to kill them.
