This is such a beautiful piece! Congratulations on your sale Ron!

Ron Brown replied:

Thank you very much. BTW: I'm a softee when it comes to cats/kittens. Our latest addition is "Kit 10" (NOT that we have 10 cats - think of the name as a license plate.)

John, thanks for the kind remarks. It is not a fractal. I used two pieces of software, 1 - Processing, and, 2 - Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. I used Processing (visit the website at processing.org) to create a template based on a number grid related to a knight moving on a chessboard and then Paint Shop Pro to manipulate the template image. Voila! Simple.

I love it too. Incredibly beautiful... I'm new to photography... is it what they call a fractal picture, or how is this generated? However it is done it is gorgeous! I would love to learn it as I love Mandalas.

Perhaps you are right! In that view please feel free to join my eye group. :) Lori Thank you for you wonderful comment! Very much appreciated! Lori

Thank you very much, Lori. Looking at your art I am extremely attracted to your LashLaFied piece. Perhaps an 'eye for an eye' - people may see similarities, mine being an earth 'eye' and yours being a sunspot or solar flare 'eye'. From a Missouri boy who has fed many a pig.

very beautiful! Congratulations!

Congrats on another sale!

Really beautiful. Congrats on your sale.

Ron Brown replied:

Thank you very much, Yvette.

Artist's Description

All my art is numerically based. To quote Wassily Kandinsky:"The final abstract expression of every art is number." Blue Planet is based on the moves of a knight on a chessboard.

About Ron Brown

Ron has a BA degree in mathematics (magna cum laude - William Jewell College, Liberty, MO), an MA degree in mathematics (University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS) and an M Ed degree (Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ). For nearly thirty years he has been a software engineer. For many years he has been fascinated by the complex patterns and structures that can evolve from a simple knight moving on a chessboard. Recently, he has begun to explore the possibilities that the puzzle, Sudoku, can provide as well as Bingo and scanned barcodes. His artistic expressions are, in essence, the result of numerical conversions. Many of the images you see are single frames from animation sketches created using Processing - see below. He has...
