The idea of leaving, sometimes forcefully, a place, situation or a state of mind that confines one to a state of misery or discomfort. Finding a way out through a psychological or sometimes physical strain. Inspired by David Bowie’s music. Lithography is a laborious technique introduced in Germany in 1796, and today practiced primarily by fine art printmakers. A grease-pencil drawing created on a surface of a well polished limestone tablet is later treated with a mixture of acid and arabic gum (made from hardened acacia tree sap) to etch the grease content of the image into the stone’s surface. Afterwords, the stone is washed, inked and pressed onto a sheet of paper to produce a print. Once a hand-pulled edition of the drawing is completed, the limestone tablet is cleaned and reused.
