Busog = Full
Despite the painting looking all gloomy, it is not in fact a sad piece. Look more closely. The children seem disinterested in eating. One boy sees the fun in having no electricity at all. The parents have no plates in front of them but are otherwise smiling and in prayer. They are full of hope that tomorrow will be better but today they are satisfied that their kids will have something to eat. They are full of love for their children. This is another reflection of a general Filipino attitude of seeing the good things in bad situations. As a side note, 50% of the income of the poor goes to buying rice.
