Description
Perhaps one of the beautiful blooming cacti, the Argentine Giant is unique.
A columnar cactus with each stem fast growing up to 4 inches wide, 3 feet tall, and clumping 6 - 7 feet wide. It's fragrant blooms normally open at night and persist until early morning. The bright white petals and yellow centers attract nighttime visitors like the bat, month or early morning bees.
It is said to be nocturnal blooming cactus with the flowers closing at early morning however it will sometimes stay open on cloudy days. The blooms do not last long but when they do they are absolutely gorgeous and wonderfully fragrant. This is a car-stopper plant that people grab their cameras for.
The Giant blooms in spring, March and April, requires little water in well-draining soil and does not tolerate cold winters.
