Description
Canadian wetlands, satellite image. Water is black and vegetation is red and green. The area consists of innumerable lakes and bogs mixed with meadows, shrublands and open forests. This subarctic region lies north of Great Slave Lake, Canada, and just north-east of Yellowknife, Canada. The lakes have formed as water filled shallow grooves carved in the landscape by glaciers during the last Ice Age. Water drains to bottom towards Great Slave Lake. The image is about 120 kilometres across. Image acquired in visible and infrared wavelengths on 7 March 2001 by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor on NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
