The castrato Carlo Broschi-Farinelli was a famous singer in 18th. century, he sang all over Europe. His voice, it was claimed, was able to reach and sustain seven or eight notes above any other singer. King Philip V of Spain was so impressed that he commissioned him to sing four arias a night for the rest of his life. His successor Ferdinand VI gave Farinelli the rank of Prince.
