Description
MODEL RELEASED. Chamois DNA sequence. Researcher, Matteo Girardi sequencing a section of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) from the chamois (Rupicapra sp.) goat-antelope. DNA contains the genetic code as a sequence of four molecules called nucleotide bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine (T). This sequence is represented as a graph below the corresponding set of letters. DNA encodes, transmits and controls the development of the hereditary traits of living organisms. Some species of chamois, native to Spain and Italy, are endangered. Photographed at the Centre of Alpine Ecology, Trento, Italy.
