Description
Bowl of Cherries on top of white napkins with a brown background. Every year we go cherry picking. It is one of our favored fruit to pick as the cherry trees provide shade and is cooler on a hot day. We make cherry preserves, black Forrest cake and eat them raw.
Prunus serotina, commonly called black cherry, wild black cherry, rum cherry, or mountain black cherry, is a deciduous woody plant species belonging to the genus Prunus. The species is widespread and common in North America and South. Cherries may have antioxidant properties. In lab studies, antioxidants appear to protect cells from damage that leads to disease, including the formation of plaques in arteries.
