Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 710 �4-6-0 Ten-wheeler" type of steam locomotive built In June of 1901. This refers to the engine's wheel arrangement, which designates that the locomotive has a four wheel lead (pilot) truck which guides the locomotive six drivers that power the locomotive and no trailing wheels. The seventy-eight ton locomotive (ninety-six tons with its tender) burned coal for power and pulled a standard U-shaped tender that carried nine tons of coal and 5,000 gallons of water.
